Ms Jo Townsend, Chief Executive Officer
Jo Townsend was appointed Funds SA’s Chief Executive Officer in April 2015, and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Corporation.
Jo has over twenty five years’ experience working in financial services after starting her career in the investment management sector managing fixed interest portfolios. Prior to joining Funds SA, Jo held senior executive roles at REST Industry Super, including Acting Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, Investments, having previously working in the superannuation sector at NGS Super and the Retirement Benefits Fund of Tasmania.
She holds a Bachelor of Mathematics and Finance from the University of Technology of Sydney and is a Certified Investment Management Analyst from the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA). Jo is a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia) and the Fund Executives Association Ltd (FEAL).
Mr John Piteo, Chief Operating Officer
John Piteo was appointed as Funds SA’s Chief Operating Officer in 2016. He is responsible for leading the investment implementation, investment operations, risk and analytics, fund accounting and IT teams for the corporation. John works closely with Funds SA's Board and sub-committees, service providers, clients and stakeholders.
John joined Funds SA in 1995, working in various finance-related roles before becoming Funds SA's inaugural Chief Financial Officer in 2004, a position he held until appointment to his current role.
John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy (SA Institute of Technology), a Company Directors Course Diploma (Australian Institute of Company Directors), Professional Management Program (Adelaide University) and Transformative Leadership Program (University of Adelaide and University of Texas). John is a member of CPA Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mr Richard Friend, Chief Investment Officer
Richard Friend was appointed as Funds SA’s Chief Investment Officer in December 2016. He leads our investment team, with responsibility for the development and implementation of investment strategy, and management of the Funds SA investment portfolios.
Richard is a highly experienced investment professional, with strong and extensive experience gained over 20 years working within the superannuation and investment management sectors. Most recently he held the role of Investment Manager at Australian Super, and has previously worked in senior roles at AGEST, Warakirri Asset Management and Equipsuper.
Richard is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), has completed a Graduate Diploma of Finance and Investment with Finsia, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.
Mr Tony Keenan, Executive Manager, Corporate Engagement
Tony Keenan was appointed to the role of Executive Manager, Corporate Engagement in July 2017. His role focuses on client and stakeholder engagement, strategy and communications, building on the reputation of Funds SA as a respected funds management organisation.
Tony previously held senior positions at organisations such as ANZ, JB Were, Deloitte, and NAB. He has extensive background in business management and the financial sector, having considerable investment management, financial markets and marketing expertise coupled with a depth of professional services and advisory experience in business strategy.
Tony holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from La Trobe University. He is a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of Finsia.
Ms Jacki Kittel, Executive Manager, People and Organisational Performance
Jacki Kittel commenced with Funds SA in January 2017, and is the Executive Manager, People and Organisational Performance. She is responsible for Funds SA’s People and Culture strategy and the design and execution of Corporate Strategy.
Jacki joined Funds SA from KPMG, where she led the People and Change group in South Australia, and brings a depth and breadth of experience in organisational leadership, strategy, performance and development.
Her career spans the private and public sectors, predominantly in financial services, both within Australia and overseas. In the United Kingdom she held People and Culture leadership roles at Northern Trust and FTSE 100 company, Centrica.
Jacki holds a Bachelor of Management from the University of South Australia, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Adelaide, and is a certified academic member of the Australian Institute of Human Resources. She also holds qualifications in adult learning and a number of applied diagnostic tools.
