Financial Year 2025-26 Investment Performance Update

Funds SA, the investment partner for the State Government has delivered a strong result for the financial year, despite global markets continuing to test investors.

Managing more than $51 billion for South Australian public sector superannuation, insurance, investment and charitable entities, delivered a 10.7 per cent return for its flagship Balanced Tax-Exempt option for the year to 30 June 2026.

Chief Executive John Piteo said the result was an important outcome for the South Australian organisations that rely on Funds SA to invest on their behalf.

“This is a pleasing result in a year when markets gave investors plenty to think about,” Mr Piteo said. “It reflects the investment capability we have built over several years and the disciplined approach we take to managing public sector money for the long-term.”

International shares were the main driver of returns, helped by continued growth in technology and artificial intelligence companies. All major asset classes finished the year in positive territory, as easing inflation and geopolitical tensions allowed investors to focus again on company earnings and long-term growth.

“Our focus on diversification, liquidity and disciplined asset allocation helped deliver this great result for clients,” Mr Piteo said.

Mr Piteo acknowledged while the result was encouraging, Funds SA remained focused on delivering strong, sustained returns over the long term.
